Capturing Outdoor Autumn Patterns and Colors
Based in Saratoga Springs, New York, Jennifer Hallowell engages with Keller Williams Capital District in closing client-focused real estate transactions. Jennifer Hallowell enjoys traveling to Maine to spend time with family and is an avid outdoor photographer.
One of the most attractive times to photograph New England is autumn, when the fall colors come to the fore and foliage varies in color from green to vibrant yellow and red. A common technique for maximizing textural possibilities involves the use of long lenses with 200–400mm focal lengths.
This approach isolates interesting patterns that would otherwise be lost amid the overall landscape. Not only does this reveal details, but it allows for maximum productivity: amid changing weather and flattening light, there are often spots of vibrant contrast that the experienced photographer with a long lens is able to focus on. At the same time, consider the use of lengthy exposure times as a way of capturing a sense of movement and flow, whether it involves leaves floating on a forest pool or mist moving between ridges.

SPAC Junior Committee Hosts Winter Ball
Holding a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Albany, Jennifer Hallowell serves as a real estate professional with Keller Williams Capital District in Saratoga Springs, NY. An active member of the community, Jennifer Hallowell previously volunteered as a member of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) Junior Committee.
Opened in 1966, SPAC has emerged as the leading performing arts center in upstate New York and one of the most prominent anywhere in the country. Over the past five decades, SPAC has played host to thousands of concerts, dance performances, and other cultural events in its state-of-the-art facilities located in the middle of a 2,400-acre park.
To support these programs, SPAC relies on donations from benefactors and fundraisers hosted by groups such as the SPAC Junior Committee, a group of young business leaders who support the center by organizing events such as the annual Winter Ball. Featuring a different theme each year, highlights of the Winter Ball include live music, catered food, and hand-crafted cocktails from local mixologists.
The theme for the 2018 Winter Ball was “Journey Under the Sea.” The band Funk Evolution provided entertainment for guests who enjoyed virtual reality demonstrations of coral reefs and deep-sea life while sampling a sea-themed menu and participating in activities such as tarot readings and taking pictures in a photo booth.
